True Tides new single ‘Beating Heart’ was released on 27th May 2022. It’s an 80s infused pop tune with a joyous chorus bursting with gospel style backing vocals, punctuated with Quincy Jones-style brass motifs. They played to a sold out Marquee in Cork supporting The Coronas on release day and their single shot to #1 in the iTunes charts above Harry Styles as well as entering the Irish Homegrown Charts at #10. It has received widespread radio play across national and local stations and also featured on Spotify playlists New Music Friday UK, New Pop UK and A Breath of Fresh Éire.

Beating Heart’ celebrates true friends, the kind of people who are on your side but aren’t afraid to tell you how it is and pull you back when you lose your way. Singer Cian says “I often struggle with my OCD and can get lost in my obsessions, be that music making or my own thoughts which can be quite isolating. For me this song is an ode to those people that remind me of what really matters; human connection”. As the chorus lyric says “Don’t stop what you're doing, keep tearing me apart, cos I need it your reason, it’s the beating of a real life heart”. And this celebration of friendship is reflected in the unapologetically joyful melody that invites you to dance with abandon in an outpouring of pulsing sound and bombastic brass refrains.

Beating Heart’ follows on from the brothers’ recent singles that have dominated the Irish airwaves with their guitar-driven synth pop sound. ‘Survive’ was nominated for an RTÉ Choice Music Prize – Song of the Year 2020 and hit the top 10 Irish radio charts, peaking at #7 after being playlisted on all major national and local radio stations across Ireland. In 2021 True Tides continued to climb the national radio charts with the release of their euphoric pop banger 'I Can’t Wait' and lead singer Cian collaborated with Steve Garrigan of Kodaline to write 2 songs included on international pop giants Westlife’s new album Wild Dreams (alongside songs written by international superstar Ed Sheeran) as well as the new single for Norwegian DJ sensation Matoma which amassed over 1 million streams within 2 weeks of its release. They also worked with Irish legends The Coronas on their single Light Me Up which was included in their chart topping album and was played by Elton John on his weekly digital radio show ‘Rocket Hour’ on Apple Music. The 3 brothers also feature on The Cranberries covers album ‘Salvation’ with their version of Ode To My Family alongside artists such as Sinéad O’Connor and Kodaline and also on ‘The Irish Songbook vol. 1’ with a unique version of U2’s One released with Hot Press and the National Concert Hall as part of Ireland Expo Dubai 2020.

Having just returned from the JJ Abrams hosted Oscar Wilde party in LA as part of Oscars week, True Tides played a sold out headline show with Cork Youth Orchestra at Cork City Hall before playing Malahide Castle supporting pop giants Kodaline to over 22k people and playing a packed main stage performance at Sea Sessions music festival Donegal.

True Tides new release ‘Beating Heart’ is an anthem for the summer – a big, buoyant and unrelentingly effervescent chorus that offers a moment of overwhelming release.
